Active Ethos

The Active Ethos® process is designed to embed a company’s values and purpose into every aspect of its culture and operations.

Who needs it? Any organisation undergoing change, be that growth or reduction in size, takeover or taking over, new locations opening or old ones closing, change of leadership, outside influences – you name it. These are the moments at which we tend to realise that at least one of our vision, purpose, values and culture isn’t up to the job, and that we may well need help to untangle things.

It takes place in-house, with a committed, consultative and embedded approach. Using the Circles of Context model, Active Ethos® begins with a thorough understanding of what is within an organisation’s control, what is influenced by it, and external factors that impact its operations.

From this foundation, Active Ethos® takes the organisation through structured phases:

Context analysis to unearth the influences you might not see at first glance

Brings values to life through defined roles and measurable actions

Articulating clear vision, purpose, and value

Review and recommendations
Developing a narrative that unites these elements

Planning activities with timetables and KPIs

Creating a champions network.

By integrating contributions from stakeholders, peers and community members as well as people in the organisation, Active Ethos® exists in a fully contextualised system. And this is the platform for better future decisions, enhanced talent magnetism, greater brand recognition and smoother passage towards organisational goals.

Benefits

Team engagement actively contributes to productivity and customer experience. To put it another way: disengaged peple actively damage productivity and relationships.

According to Gallup, companies with good culture are 21% more profitable and see 41% less absenteeism. An 11-year study demonstrated a difference of over 500% revenue growth between organisations with a thriving company culture and without. 47% of people actively seeking a new job cite corporate culture as their reason for leaving, 37% prize recognition above all else, and only 29% are happy with their development. Consider the cost and risks of replacing staff and the impact starts to loom.

And what of your clients and customers? These days, brand image cannot be controlled by its owners;  the outside world knows too much, sees too much to allow this. Authenticity is not a buzzword, it’s essential to brand growth – and people are looking for organisations with purpose to discover and share. Culture, communicated makes the difference. Look at the success of Patagonia, whose values mirror those of its target market: it grew 30% in one year alone, the year when its Christmas ad said “Don’t buy this jacket”.

Culture drives engagement and reputation, and Active Ethos® is the way to bring it wholeheartedly into your organisation through a tightly managed, well documented and highly collaborative process.
